Senior Scientist (Agricultural Entomology)

I completed my Master and Doctorate degrees from ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi and joined Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) as Scientist (S1) in the discipline of Agricultural Entomology through Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in August 2003. Initially I served at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya for five years (August, 2003- September, 2008). Presently, working as Senior Scientist at ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, since October, 2008. My area of specialization is Insect Toxicology and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Vegetable crops with major focus and expertise on Insecticide Resistance Management (IRM)  in borer and sucking insect pests like Brinjal Shoot and Fruit Borer (BSFB) Leucinodes orbonalis,  Whitefly, Bemisia tabaci and Leaf hopper, Amrasca biguttula biguttula. Actively involved in developing IPM technologies for important vegetable crops. Developed a rotational based IRM technology for the management of fruit and shoot borer L. orbonalis in brinjal.  Awarded “Gurprasad Pradhan Medal ” in Division of Entomology, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi. Published 25 research papers in peer reviewed journals and 8 technical/training manuals. Acting as member secreraty of Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC) of ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi.
