Dr ALOK is a Staff Scientist in the Division of Plant Biotechnology, ICAR-Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur. Dr. ALOK has been awarded graduate and post-graduate degrees from Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, and PhD (Molecular Biology and Biotechnology) from National Research Centre on Plant Biotechnology, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. Current research interests are gene technology and translational genomics for pulses (grain legumes) improvement, particularly in improving resistance against insect pests (gram pod borer and bruchids) and climate resilience traits (enhanced drought tolerance) in chickpea and pigeonpea. Oversee bio safety compliance of the Institute and currently Member Secretary of Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC).
